Camera Tethering in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom

Seen those high-gear fashion photography studio setups?
Well, that what Camera tethering is all about, digital cameras hooked up to a fancy screen with necessary on-store photography tools.

Some in this we are basically setting up camera tethering with Lightroom at minimum costs.

Benefits of Tethering:
– The most important advantage is the ability to see your images on screen. Instead of being confined to the camera’s tiny LCD, the images will come from your camera and through to Lightroom nearly instantly.

– You’ll also be able to apply image processing and add metadata to the files quickly, as they are made. Depending on your style of working, you’ll often be able to flag, star, keyword and pick your keepers as you photograph, saving you from the time-consuming reviewing stage in post-production.

– Tethering the camera to your computer sends your image files directly to the hard drive, without the eject-and-transfer dance of memory cards. If you have a camera with a high megapixel count (or small memory cards) this means not having to worry if your card is running out of space.

Getting Tethered:
1) Connect your digital camera to your computer using a USB which is provided.
2) Open Adobe Lightroom ( tried on 5.7).
3) File > Tethered Capture > Start Tethered Capture.

4) Set the required attributes.

5) Now a control bar will pop up, where you’ll be able to conduct your tethered session. The right most button will now act as the shutter button.

Xiaomi Yi or GoPro Hero?

The rumours are true. Yesterday, Xiaomi launched a GoPro style action camera  in China, with an unimaginable price tag, $64 which is approximately Rs. 4,000.

There is no knowledge about the India launch of the Yi Action Camera. But at Rs 4,000, the Yi Action Camera may find a lot of buyers as most action cameras cost upwards of Rs 10,000 here.

Specifications:

  • The Yi Action Camera sports a 16MP Sony Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor.
  • Capable of shooting at 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, which is higher than the GoPro Hero which can shoot at 1080p30 and 720p60 and comes with a 5MP sensor.
  • It weighs a mere 72 grams and comes with 64GB of on board storage space.
  • Includes a built-in Wi-fi remote smartphone triggering, 16MP still image capture.
  • A 155-degree wide angle lens, 3D noise-reduction and digital image stabilisation.
  • Capable of shooting as deep as 40 meters under water. But you will have to buy a third-party water-proof casing since the Yi Action camera does not come bundled with one.
